The NeuralFibre link goes 802.11g

Introduction

The link between our houses (1.2km) has been upgraded from 11megabit (802.11b) to 54 megabit (802.11g) in late June 2003.

Went in without a hitch.

  • took the old card out,

  • put the new card in.

  • (and shake it all about - ya doo the hokey pok.....)

  • installed the new drivers

  • that's it

All the screw's adapters and cables went on and off, no problems.

Notes from the field

the picture below shows reasonable signal quality and the speed is sitting around the 22MBit mark.
That should give us about 2.5MByte/sec. The wireless itself we have found to us 1/2 that due to inefficency. Should get about 1.3meg/s. This gets about 900KB/Sec realistically.
